چکیده

Methods 1217 patients with BAV were treated in the Institute during 2003−2012. There were 902 (74.1%) males. Patients age ranged from 3 days to 76 years, mean 50.2 ± 9,8 years. Aneurysm of ascending aorta took place in 380 (31.2%) pts, 39 (10,3%) of them admitted with dissection. We use: balloon valvuloplasty in 82 (8.1%) patients. Different operative interventions were fulfilled to the rest :1135 (93,3%) pts: open aortic valvotomy − 64 (5,3%), aortic valve replacement (AVR) – 691 (56.8%), AVR with ascending aorta banding – in 83 (6,8%), Robicsek operation – 121 (10.0%), Bentall’s operation – 162 (13.3%), Wheat’s operation – 9 (0.7%), supracoronary aortic grafting with AV resurpension – 3 (0.2%), David’s operation – 2 (0.2%); 51 (4.2%) patients with BAV treated of coarctation of the aorta earlier.

Bicuspid Aortic Valve: An Unusual Cause of Aneurysm of Left Coronary Sinus of Valsalva

Bicuspid aortic valve is traditionally considered an innocuous congenital anomaly. Due to a better and widespread availability of non-invasive imaging techniques, it has come to the fore that 30% of these cases develop complications, viz., valve abnormality (aortic regurgitation and stenosis), and aneurysm of aortic root and ascending aorta. Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm is an uncommon complicatio...

Diagnosis and Treatment of Bicuspid Aortic Valve Disease

Bicuspid aortic valve disease is the most common congenital cardiac anomaly. The prevalence in the general population is between 0.46% and 1.37%. There is significantly high cardiac morbidity associated with bicuspid aortic valve disease, predominantly due to progressive valve dysfunction (stenosis or regurgitation) that requires surgical intervention for symptom relief or prevention of left ve...

[Valve repair for bicuspid aortic valve regurgitation: an option?].

Bicuspid aortic valve is the most common form of congenital heart disease. It is associated with both valvular pathology and aortic disease. Aortic regurgitation caused by a bicuspid aortic valve can be corrected by surgical valve repair, which has good short-term results. However, the significant rate of aortic regurgitation recurrence found on long-term follow-up remains a problem, partly bec...

Is endovascular repair for patients with primary adult coarctation, bicuspid aortic valve, dilated ascending aorta and hypertension the new gold standard?

We readwith great interest the recent article byWheatley III Grayson et al. on the safety and effectiveness of endovascular repair for primary adult coarctation (PAAC) as an alternative to surgical repair [1]. They report excellent early and midterm results on 16 adult patients with PAAC treated with endovascular repair. The study group included three (18.7%) PAAC patients associated with bicus...

Evolution of Precision Medicine and Surgical Strategies for Bicuspid Aortic Valve-Associated Aortopathy

Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is a common congenital cardiac malformation affecting 1-2% of people. BAV results from fusion of two adjacent aortic valve cusps, and is associated with dilatation of the aorta, known as bicuspid valve associated aortopathy. Bicuspid valve aortopathy is progressive and associated with catastrophic clinical events, such as aortic dissection and rupture. Therefore, fre...
